Upward is a fresh, annual teen event that launched on April 24-26, 2015 and will continue its journey upward this year on April 24-26, 2020. It is a work of Tomorrow’s Church, Today and is under the oversight of the elders of the Jacksonville (AL) church of Christ.
Upward started when the team at Tomorrow’s Church, Today got together and brainstormed new ways they could help teens in the church. You see, teens are leaving the church at a rate of 70% when they leave home, and they can’t be tomorrow’s church or today’s church if they’re not a part of the church. The team asked why. Why are teens leaving the church? Because most of us get caught up in the storms of life and forget to look upward. That’s why Upward is here, to remind us all to look “upward” (Philippians 3:14).
